In 1788 Captain Cook and his fleet entered the delta of the Hawkesbury and the sheltered bay of Sydney. At the entrance of the Dyirabun (Hawkesbury) River, he was first welcomed by the Darug People who had been living on these banks since the beginning of times. Not long after, the British colonized the Australian territory, building a network of roads and electrical lines across the vast country. The electrical posts were made of some of the finest local hardwoods. Later on, these posts were slowly replaced by steel posts.

Profiles, designed by Belzberg Architects, investigate the design potential of a mid-block property in Mexico City. The eight-story, 24,000 SF office building is located adjacent to a historic three-story building on a busy one-way street in the Cuauhtémoc neighborhood. The Scheunenviertel, part of the Spandauer Vorstadt district in Berlin-Mitte, is a trendy neighbourhood which is popular with the international fashion industry, mobile phone, electronics and IT companies, and creative start-ups and is known for its diverse range of restaurants and cultural offerings. At Rosenthaler Strasse 43-45, directly opposite the Art Nouveau ensemble of the Hackesche Höfe, a modern, three-part, new building has been erected using reinforced-concrete construction. It has seven storeys above ground, two basement levels, and a gross floor area of 15,000 sqm. It picks up on and complements the surrounding neighbourhood’s mix of residential, commercial, and office functions. The varied, detailed façades of the three buildings are a direct reference to the historical parcelling of the building site.

Five hundred kilos of Calatorao stones, stainless steel 3mx1.5m plates, solid Spanish walnut wood 50 mm thick. Thickness is the word that would define the proposal and the “raw” presence of the material, responsible for building its friendly atmosphere. Five large blocks of stone, which seem to float, build a fluctuating “magma”.

Luce and Pablo Residence / Mínimo Común Arquitectura

It was January 23, 2020. A hot morning, like so many during the summers in the capital of Paraguay, Asunción. The temperature hovered around 29 degrees Celsius at just 8:30 am. The characteristic sound of the mobile phone makes its appearance inside the office of the small studio, located in the Ricardo Brugado neighborhood, better known as the Chacarita neighborhood. At the third repetition Solanito picks up:
-Hello, what are you doing, Tapiti?
-Of course, Tapiti, I remember, right away.
-Alright, see you on Friday Tapiti, greetings to Luce.
Before any questions, an answer. Pablito wants to get together to discuss his house that we talked about yesterday after soccer. The story of some determined friends building a future home.
