Durbach Block Jaggers Designs Australia’s Thinnest “Pencil” Skyscraper

Australian architecture firm Durbach Block Jaggers has unveiled a design for the Pencil Tower Hotel in Sydney. Designed to be the country’s thinnest skyscraper, the project would rise at 410 Pitt Street with a height-to-width ratio of 16:1. With 173 hotel rooms with six suites on each floor, the 100-metre-high tower would be built in the downtown area with street frontage only 6.4 meters wide.

KCAP to Design Grand Central Park Masterplan in Nanjing, China

International design practice KCAP has won the competition for a new comprehensive masterplan for two previously separated parks in Nanjing, China. Their proposals encompasses both Zijin Mountain and Xuanwu Lake. The competition aimed to launch a multilayered masterplan that unites both historical landmarks, and the ecological core of Nanjing, referred to as the new Grand Central Park Nanjing.

New Images for Nuremberg Concert Hall Released

Architecture firms Topotek 1, Johannes Kappler Architektur und Städtebau, and Super Future Collective have released new images for the Nuremberg Concert Hall. While the project is on hold due to the pandemic, the competition-winning design was made as an addition to the ensemble of the Meistersingerhalle. The project is driven by the 1960s architecture of the existing building, and will address acoustic issues to provide a world-class space for performance.
