Community development proposals in Disney World come from back days. One of Walt Disney’s last visionary projects was the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (EPCOT), a center for American enterprise and urban living. Disney advocated that the problems of cities were the most critical issues facing society and planned a city that could develop in a controlled manner, contrary to the urban expansion in the USA during the first half of the last century. After Disney died in 1966, the “EPCOT” concept was abandoned as the company was uncertain about the feasibility of operating a city. Fifty- five years later, after a thorough search, Walt Disney World chose The Michaels Organization for its experience in building and managing attainable housing communities.

From inflatable and 3D-printed structures to entire habitats, architecture plays an unprecedented role in space exploration missions. As NASA plans for long-term human exploration of the Moon and Mars under Artemis and CHAPEA missions, new technologies are required to meet the unique challenges of living and working in another world. Zaha Hadid Architects and Architects 61 unveiled the design for the new Science Center in the Jurong Lake District, Singapore. Pantone has revealed its Color of the Year for 2023, 18-1750 Viva Magenta, a brand-new color “brave and fearless, whose exuberance promotes a joyous and optimistic celebration.” The shade falls under the red family and is inspired by the tone of cochineal extract, one of the most precious dyes historically used to color textiles, cosmetics, and food.

Foster + Partners has been announced as the winner of the competition to design the new King Salman International Airport in Riyadh. Saudi culture and identity drive the airport’s architectural design to ensure a unique travel experience for visitors and transit travelers. The master plan will boost Saudi Arabia’s capital as a global logistics hub, stimulate transport, trade, and tourism, and act as a bridge connecting 180 million passengers from East to West.

Austin-based office HKS announced the design of the Wilson Tower, a high-rise of 315 meters in Texas’ capital featuring 80 floors, 450 units, outdoor terraces, and gardens. The tower will be delivered in collaboration with Britt Design Group and Wilson Capital, and is expected to break ground in the summer of 2023. After completion will become the tallest in the USA outside New York.

Therefore, understanding the scope of what is protected helps determine whether licenses are sufficient, whether trademark registration’s long road is worth it; or perhaps a graphic piece cannot be protected and belongs to the public domain.
