Fondation Galeries Lafayette / OMA

A late 19th-century industrial building is refurbished for Fondation d’Entreprise Galeries Lafayette to house exhibition and production spaces, with a focus on creation, innovation, and research. OMA has inserted an exhibition tower into the courtyard of the building in which two sets of mobile platforms will offer a large repertoire of spatial configurations; the programmatic flexibility provided increases the potential of the existing building. A production centre at the heart of the site underpins the Fondation, while the ground floor becomes a passage connecting rue du Plâtre to rue Sainte- Croix de la Bretonnerie and hosts the public programs.

Trees create fresh air and shade which help human spirit to relax; and in religious sense the tree also has life. Trees play an important role in human life, so we need to understand the importance of trees and respect their lives as well as respect the natural world. Our design called “Y house” is a way of co-living that people, trees and nature live sustainably together.

Porous Manifold as a Japanese Tearoom / F.A.D.S. + Ryumei Fujiki + KOU::ARC

January 16, 2019 Paula Pintos 0

Breathing architecture like a living-thing:
This temporary art work is a nested structure with a two-tatami space embedded in ten foot square hut. The use is a Japanese traditional tearoom. We constructed it by ourselves. It was exhibited in Echigo-tsumari Art Triennale 2018 in Japan. In this exhibition, architects were asked to respond to the theme of how to overcome the concept of homogeneous space which was dominant in the 20th century. It is distorted homogeneous space to create irregularities by the random pattern of the skeleton and proposed an art-tecture with many holes which are open and close as necessary to communicate with the outside like living things.
