Italian Fashion Hub: Call For Entries

YAC – Young Architects Competitions – and Centergross launch “Italian Fashion Hub”, an architectural competition to redevelop a multi-service area of the wider fashion district in Europe. A cash prize of € 20,000 will be awarded to the winners selected by an internationally-renowned jury made by, among the others, Patrik Schumacher (Zaha Hadid Architects), Ben Gilmartin (Diller Scofidio + Renfro), Marie Hesseldahl (3XN), Aurélien Coulanges (Ateliers Jean Nouvel).

Bamboo U: Build and Design Course, Bali

BambooU(niversity) was an idea originally conceived to help teach professionals about the potential of bamboo as a green building material. In its current form it is a design and bamboo build workshop in Bali hosted by The Kul Kul Farm at the Green School; facilitated in collaboration with the bamboo design firm, IBUKU. Bamboo U is a unique opportunity to design and build alongside some of the architects, designers and craftsmen who built the Green School. The group will investigate the available sites and hear from Elora Hardy, her team at IBUKU and John Hardy, co-founder of Green School.

Fairy Tales 2018: Architecture Storytelling Competition

Over the last four years, the Fairy Tales competition has captured the imagination of designers and architects around the world. Last year’s record breaking competition drew over 1,500 participants, making the competition once again the largest annual architecture competition in the world. Are.na Announces Individual, Team, and Web Project Grants

For the first set of grants, we are especially interested in projects that address issues around the shifting nature of “knowledge work,” algorithmic governance, and networked learning, though proposals of all kinds are welcome.

Archtober, New York’s Architecture and Design Festival, Begins This Weekend

During the month of October, a host of events will take place throughout the five boroughs of New York City as part of the month-long architecture and design festival, Archtober. The well-known Building of the Day series of walking tours continues with highlights including the Sea Glass Carousel, Freshkills Park, and the George Washington Bridge Bust Station.

The National September 11 Memorial & Museum will present a lecture on the architecture and design of the World Trade Center called Trees of Steel: The World Trade Center Tridents. Open House New York Weekend returns once again, along with National Design Week
