This old building in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties has been in disrepair for a long time. The mottled bricks and broken walls show its old age. Due to the function and actual protection needs, the condition that the old building must be placed at the second-floor height undoubtedly increases the difficulty of design and implementation. However, the designers gave a satisfactory answer: they completed the crossing of several hundred years in the new and old space, carried the space theme of “let Wenzhou return to Wenzhou”, and make the old buildings knowable, perceptible and usable. This is the place spirit conveyed by Yongning Academy.

One day back to last September, I was thinking about the beam and pillar again, then wrote down the poem above. Beam and pillar, is there really a substantial difference? I feel there is a blurred boundary. Just like wall and roof, door and window, or bucket arch and arch, to me, they are literally the same. Jinan Changzhuang Church is located in Changzhuang Village,a remote place in the countryside of Jinan, China. The church is situated in the center of a forest and crops which are naturally segregated from the village.

The Sports Park is a rare large-scale open park themed by ecological running in high-density cities. On this spot, it incorporates the colorful flowing track and lawn which formed the park simple atmosphere landscape characteristics

Sky Yards Hotel / Domain Architects

Surrounded by unfinished building site, wasted land and industrial sites, this project is definitely not blessed with a beautiful site. This hotel near a scenic area consists of 48 rooms, an independent restaurant, a banquet hall, swimming pools, underground parking and spaces preserved for later phase development. The site area, construction budget and time are also extremely tight and limited. Fortunately, Taihang Mountain is still visible from the site.

Terra Bean to Bar / Soar Design Studio

Terra is a chocolate specialty store. The chef travels around the world to search for all kinds of cocoa beans, from South America, India to Asia and other places. “From bean to bar” is the brand’s purpose, allowing customers to taste the most original flavor of cocoa at the beginning, and to enjoy its derivative desserts and drinks or chocolate liquor and other products. Dismantling and exploring the essence of chocolate desserts and drinks is actually “experiencing nature”. We turn cocoa beans, the fruit of nature, into various foods. The taste of the fruits produced in different countries and regions vary, reflecting the difference in climate and soil, sunshine and other natural factors. In addition, in the interview with the owner, the owner reflected his experience in the agricultural technology teaching group in Central and South America and living in the forest. These all induced our hope that the design of this room can be more “natural”.

ToSummer Aromatherapy Experience / F.O.G. Architecture

The new oriental original aromatherapy brand “ToSummer” announces its first off-line flagship store, the “ToSummer living room”, located on the ground floor of Taikoo Li North District, Sanlitun, Beijing. With its inviting combination of streamline and curved surfaces, the design transforms the 170m² space while leading visitors to naturally follow a circular flow. With the extensive use of mirror effects combined with continued light, naturalistic materials, and colors to enhance the ambiance of the space, visitors stop and linger to savor the experience. This is exactly the “living room” atmosphere that the owners sought to create – to inspire an emotional feeling between domestic and social, communication and comfort.
