DART Lab creates biodegradable concrete casts using sawdust

A research team at the University of Michigan has created biodegradable formwork out of sawdust in an attempt to mitigate wood waste in the process of laying concrete. The wood-based material is a result of the BioMatters project by the Digital Architecture Research and Technologies (DART) Lab at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

Hutton embeds off-grid research station into hills of rural Kansas

Bands of local stone wrap the Youngmeyer Field Station, which was designed and built by Kansas studio Hutton to integrate with the natural topography and operate off the grid. Lina Ghotmeh wraps Hermès leather workshop in “galloping arches”

Lebanese architect Lina Ghotmeh has created a brick workshop in Louviers, France, for luxury brand Hermès that is the first industrial building to achieve France’s highest environmental labelling.
