Atomizing the Free Plan Installation / Alsar Atelier

December 28, 2023 Benjamin Zapico 0

In the heart of the Harvard University campus lies the iconic Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts, a testament to Le Corbusier’s architectural vision. However, within its walls, an installation challenges the very essence of Corbusian design, igniting a dialogue between its ideals and a reinterpreted tropical perspective.

Two arms were arranged perpendicular to each other. On one side, a wing that houses a common area, services, and the master bedroom was positioned parallel to Lake Ranco and the mountain range, while the other wing, which houses four bedrooms and three bathrooms, was placed against it, forming a “T” shaped floor plan.

Collective Housing in Jesús María / Carranza Vazquez Arquitectos

December 11, 2023 Benjamin Zapico 0

The work is located in Jesús María, a relatively medium-scale city located 50 km from the capital of the province of Córdoba, Argentina. The city is characterized by a low-density fabric where the predominance of a logic of housing occupation by lots hinders the response to the high housing demand in the area. The project consists of a set of 4 housing units of 130 m2 on a corner lot of 420 m2 with a slope in the north/south direction towards the river that crosses the city.

Paral·lel Building / OHLAB

December 8, 2023 Benjamin Zapico 0

Paral·lel is a residential project in the quiet neighborhood of La Bonanova, southwest of Palma, with two independent blocks. Taking advantage of the pb+3 regulations, the buildings are designed so that the 12 houses, despite the density and limited space, enjoy sustainability, energy efficiency, and privacy with small-sized private gardens and pools. Some houses are duplexes, 6 on the ground floor with garden and pool, and 6 penthouses with rooftop pools and panoramic views of the bay of Palma, Cala Mayor, and Illetas.

Cervantes Building / Grizzo Studio

December 5, 2023 Benjamin Zapico 0

This project crosses us from two perspectives, on one hand, the identity of the neighborhood where we were born and at the same time the identity of the house where we were raised, whose architect was our mother, although the sentimental value was immense, it did not prevent us from taking advantage of it to, from the connection of the original with new morphologies, materiality experiments and the combination of different construction systems, contribute to the desired architecture that characterizes us, and that would also become the presentation card of our studio.

Avorio Renovation / Estudio Gonzalo del Val

December 5, 2023 Benjamin Zapico 0

The housing in Madrid at the beginning of the 20th century was characterized, in general, by an elongated distribution of the domestic program, resulting in very long corridors and small interior courtyards. Our proposal for this traditional typology consists of unifying a series of spaces, eliminating distributors and corridors as much as possible, to turn them into programmed rooms.

HMZ House / Lucio Munian et al.

November 29, 2023 Benjamin Zapico 0

The HMZ house is located in the La Loma Country Club in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. It is a two-story building that provides comfort for mom, dad, and four children. Dad works in the construction business and wants to develop a building made entirely of concrete. This was a challenge for our office as we focused on the space and all the unique elements that make it interesting.
