The 1928 housing in Valencia is located in a historic building that is part of the city’s modernist architecture. Its main facade is composed of parallel vertical axes where elongated window openings are aligned. It stands out for its classic balustrades on the balconies and semi-circular arches in its openings.
A house designed at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, with a program and concept based on what homes had already experienced in the second quarter of 2020. As architects, we reconsidered the lifestyle we were leading, but above all, the importance of housing in those moments of confinement; which, in some way, we had neglected with contemporary paradigms of compact cities, where social relationships are simply resolved in public spaces.
The house is located in the private neighborhood of “San Sebastián”, in the city of Funes, Santa Fe. It is located on a southeast-facing corner lot, without pre-existing vegetation or significant pre-existing data.
Located in a central area of Montevideo, the Morelli residential building is located on a 10-meter wide and 46-meter deep site between party walls. Taking as a reference the R2B1 zoning of Buenos Aires – our neighboring city – to make the most of the characteristics of the land, the project is articulated in two blocks of 4 levels around a large central patio 11 meters long.
The project was commissioned by a couple from the city of Neuquén, Argentina. They had purchased the lot a few years ago with the dream of building a house to move in and live out their retirement in the city of San Martín de los Andes, in the heart of the Andes mountain range.
History of creation. Conversion of an old rural orchard in a village in Ávila, into a contemporary designed home: Nogal is a single-family dwelling designed with the appearance of a giant rock, an enormous inert being that, nevertheless, houses life. This genuine concept develops under the shade and environment of an imposing walnut tree, the epicenter and soul of the project.
Casa Caoba is located on a tropical hillside at 900 meters above sea level, surrounded by mango trees that have been in place for over a decade. This home seeks to provide a space for retreat and relaxation, while also offering an opportunity to explore various notions of interaction with the landscape and interdependence with the local species.
The project is located in the Municipality of El Retiro (Antioquia), on a plateau at the bottom of a sloping lot, surrounded by vegetation, and a small forest at the top. It is proposed as a spatial system that, based on a single extruded section, is able to solve all the spatial and relational needs of the house. The entire program is developed from this simple idea.
Upcycling of a Modernist house in Gracia. Upcycling is a sustainable trend in the fashion world that consists of giving new life to what already exists by improving and taking advantage of all the parts that make up the element in question. In architecture, this concept is based not only on reusing to improve the functionality of the object but also on transforming to enhance new spatial and aesthetic attributes.
