It all began with an invitation from artist Elly Van Eeghem, at a time when there was no mention of an architectural competition for the church. The project started with a participatory exploration of Malem, a garden city near Ghent. At the time Malem was transforming due to vacant spaces. Elly sought architectural input for an artistic project envisioning the future city. Plano architecten engaged in a year-long participatory process, co-creating public space and gaining a deep understanding of the neighborhood.

Highnote is a residential tower for starters in Almere and the latest addition to the city skyline. For the design, we came up with a unique feature: a triangular plinth that consists entirely of ‘urban rooms’. They are intimate, urban indoor and outdoor spaces, flowing into each other and enticing you to wander through them. Each urban room sparks its own sense of wonder, yet always leaves its use to your imagination.

Elogio del Grigio House / Antonino Cardillo

This house, built on the outskirts of Castiglione delle Stiviere, on the slope of a moraine hill to the south of Garda, is inspired by the image of the fog-bound lake. Its frontage appears in the form of a miniature palazzo, a symmetry of elongated openings, an entrance arch, and a hipped roof. In the manner of an ancient pianura dwelling, this dominates the side of the building facing the sunset.

As part of the redevelopment of the outskirts of Larrey Hospital, the University Hospital of Toulouse has initiated a consultation with developers to sell the first land parcel, known as “Lot 1.” Traces of occupation dating back to the Neolithic era were discovered during excavations in 1974 near the Cluzel oppidum. Initially a part of the Toulouse countryside near Pouvourville, Pech David expanded with the development of Toulouse’s suburbs. In the 19th century, Pech David was still a rural area, primarily occupied by agricultural plots and wooded areas more closely associated with Pouvourville than Toulouse.

Café Výklad / Grau Architects

Café Výklad is located in Banská Bystrica, on the ground floor of a house that has been rebuilt several times in the past. The very last renovation filled the main volume with a plasterboard set piece, which significantly affected the overall space concept. Thus, the main intention was to bring the original proportions back and so the archetypal qualities of the house are highlighted and complemented by new details and elements.
