The new High School is located on a plot at the boundary between residential and industrial areas, in one of the most important avenues of the industrial sector, on the threshold of the future equipment of the city. The implementation recognizes the importance of the main avenue, from which the building is accessed, and is arranged with the alignment of the main façade, but without renouncing a sequence of filters that allow distance from the street.
The house of a large family needed to be remodeled to create more organized and welcoming spaces with a modern language but respecting the existing architecture.
With an international and diverse profile, the International People’s College (IPC) has since 1921 been a place for international students to meet, learn and exchange thoughts and opinions, as a part of the Danish Folk High School culture. URBAN POWER won the 1st prize in an invited competition in 2018, and has implemented the detailed design and supervised the construction of a new extension.
The building is located in the heart of Bohemian Forest with a view of Lipno lake. This cabin was built in a place where an old wooden cabin used to be. It is designed to provide the perfect base for nearby mountain sports in all conditions.
The 20th-century belt outside the historic center of Hasselt has been thoroughly transformed in recent years. Small, mostly run-down working-class and middle-class houses, on narrow plots and with limited heights, are making way for larger, collective housing projects. The increasingly strict energy performance and comfort requirements, the development toward smaller average household composition, and, above all, the need for densification of the city center, means that in many places – like here at Maastrichersteenweg – the typology of the single-family detached house is no longer tenable.
Chido restaurant is located in Madrid, in the Chamberí neighborhood. The project is developed in a 300m2 venue, with 180 m2 on the ground floor of a protected building from 1925. This level is developed on a longitudinal axis that creates a path through the project
Five apartment buildings built on a former marina brownfield evoke the atmosphere of a local, “Libeň-style Amsterdam”. The houses are nested on a distinctive site, a narrow peninsula flanked by opposite green banks.
The building is located in southwestern Poland in the village near Opole. The progressive expansion of the city has resulted in the intensive urbanization of suburban villages that have already become part of suburbs of Opole. The plot of land which the building was developed on is located on land that was originally meadows and pastures surrounding the compact village of Malina. The location of the designed building on an open, flat area, clearly sidelined from the existing village buildings, prompted thoughts about the building’s correspondence with such an environment.
Sustainability is a tough topic to avoid nowadays, and much more so in the world of interiors; thus, doing our part for the environment is critical.
Sitting on a flag lot at the corner of Lido Beach, this 2,625 sq. ft. prefab home serves as a summer house for a professor / writer and her family. The home attempts to establish a relationship to the surrounding dunes and beach while still being referential to its cozy neighborhood.
