CAAA Restaurant by Pietro Catalano / External Reference

The Barcelona-based architecture firm External Reference, led by Italian PhD architect Carmelo Zappulla, has been commissioned to design CAAA by Pietro Catalano, the second restaurant of acclaimed chef Pietro Catalano. Situated in Lucerne, Switzerland, the space provides an exclusive experience merging gastronomy, design, and technology. The collaboration between Zappulla and Catalano showcases an avant-garde design, narrating a tale of craftsmanship and establishing the ambiance for a distinctive gastronomic experience that engages all senses. Drawing inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of the transalpine region and from the landscape itself, External Reference crafted an interior that pays homage to the magnificence of the Alps. Spanning 85 m2 and accommodating up to 16 diners, the restaurant`s dining area is characterized by a dominant white color palette.

Vertical Extension on Avenue Wendt / Lecroix Chessex

This two-floor vertical extension project on Avenue Wendt is located next to a pair of neighboring buildings that were also recently added on floors. From a volume perspective, this facilitated the extension’s integration and acceptance. Our architectural expression and vision, however, were not congruous with a solution aimed at architectural continuity.

RizA ii House / React Architects

The two houses with a cave guest house are placed on a particularly sloping plot. The orientation is southwest on the long side, overlooking the sea and the bay of Parikia. The project has its roots in the arid topography of the Cyclades and its white walls emerge from it, unfolding like a ribbon in the landscape forming the volumes of the house and the external and internal living spaces.

Lanoma Residence / Licht Architecture

Located in East Launceston, Tasmania, sits a Federation house built in 1914; it is home to a family of three. The home had lovely character and charm, but the interiors were internalized and lacked a connection to the backyard. The design approach removes a tired lean-to, making way for a new kitchen/dining extension that focuses out onto a new courtyard and backyard beyond. The internal floor plan has been rationalized to simplify movement through the home and to incorporate an ensuite and laundry within the existing footprint.

Petit Gervais Duplex / AJAR

PETIT GERVAIS is a 50 m2 ground-floor duplex overlooking an alleyway; it is mono-oriented, with one window and a Velux window. The project sought to intensify the identity of this atypical space, notably through a clear-cut use of materials.

Garden Studio / Studio Abacaxi

Working from home can be challenging, especially with small kids around. Therefore a young creative couple asked Studio Abacaxi to design a Garden Studio, in which they could work and host guests. The combination of working and living resulted in a multi-functional structure, where the integrated furniture caters to the different needs.

Paulista Apartment / Andrade Morettin Arquitetos Associados

Through a prominent location on the south corner of the building, the proposal for a large internal garden stands out in a distinct plan from the living area. Like a balcony that creates a more welcoming scale, this environment mediates the relationship between the city and the interior of the apartment.

Ski House / Hetedik Müterem + Studio Konstella

The protected local heritage, Normafa Ski House was built between 1930-1931. Preserving the unity of the main facade and the building’s mass, the restaurant function was planned according to the layout of the original interior spaces.
