Ombak House / Arti Design Studio

October 24, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

Inspired by a global ethos of comfort, safety, and peace, our design integrates multiple terraces, allowing nature to flourish within the home. the idea is to reclaim nature and the land that is usually found in the backyard of the typical house in south east Asia where families typically spend their time and move it to the rooftop of each house. The rooftop’s open space offers residents the chance to participate in outdoor activities while taking in the view.

The “Parental house” project is the house of the parents of a family that has lived there for many years with three children and now welcomes their children, bride, sons-in-law and grandchildren. According to the family’s growth and the passing of a lifetime on the house, it was decided to design a house in the same place that was suitable for their new lifestyle and story.

TAPAS – The Art of Mindful Living / Fahed+Architects

October 23, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

Located in the heart of Kochi in Kerala, India – TAPAS is a private apartment building that offers a tranquil retreat from urban life. The name “TAPAS” comes from the Sanskrit word तपस्, which refers to a variety of austere spiritual practices, emphasizing self-discipline, reflection, and mindfulness. This concept serves as the foundation of the project, where the architecture fosters a serene environment that encourages residents to embrace a slower, more mindful way of living. Nestled between its natural surroundings and the built form, TAPAS harmoniously blends simplicity, nature, and craftsmanship. The building comprises six apartments spread across G+3 floors and a co-working space on the ground floor.

101 Years House / 1110 Office for Architecture

October 23, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

Situated on the outskirts of Ueda in Nagano prefecture, this traditional wooden house was bought by the clients as a weekend house as well as a future retirement house. At first, the existing building was of no interest as the clients wanted to dismantle it and build a new house on the plot. However, after a first site visit, we began questioning this strategy as we discovered an interesting dwelling that was displaying a well-made traditional craftsmanship.

Private Residence in Goto Islands / Souta Yoriki Design Office

October 23, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

The plan is to renovate an old private house on Fukue Island in the Goto Islands, Nagasaki Prefecture, into a guest house and private residence. The Abunze Coast stretches out in front of the house, and we wanted to be able to see this scenery from the rooms. So, we installed windows facing the sea in each room, and the living room window is a long, dynamic window that responds to the horizon.

Sarv Office Building / Tamouz Architecture & Construction Group

Disorder/Order – Scattered/Arranged – Unorganized/Organized – Not seeing/Seeing – Unseen/Seen – Shade/Light – Closed/Open – Shell/Space. These opposing concepts were central to the design challenges faced by the Sarv administrative building project. Initially referred to the design team in June 2017 for façade approval, the building posed unique architectural problems. It was a partially constructed structure with 100% plot coverage, limiting the potential for natural light and ventilation to just one side—the southern façade. This constraint heavily influenced the design team’s approach, as they sought to balance functional requirements with aesthetic and spatial considerations.

Adisaptagram Society Hall / Abin Design Studio

October 22, 2024 Hana Abdel 0

This association came in the form of a collaboration with the region’s Panchayat. As is the Government’s convention, a budget of 2.5 crores was allotted for the construction of an auditorium in Adisaptagram for private and public events. Planned to be built in the typical format of a Government convention hall, the local councilor was insistent that they could do better than a cookie-cutter ‘decorative’ facade and really add functional and aesthetic value with a contemporary approach.
