The view from a pier is normally that of water, but at the site of Marc Fornes’ new sculpture Pier 865, visitors enjoy a panoramic vantage point over the tree canopy of a historical Knoxville park. Like its namesake structure, the sculpture commissioned by the City of Knoxville joins two worlds, bridging the Old Town neighborhood and theater district, inviting passers-by to walk out to the pier’s end and engage in a moment of reflection and observation. Pier 865 also invites larger groups of people to linger: one of the cantilevered wings creates a shaded stage for small gatherings and public performances.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area is the world’s largest conurbation, with its population anticipated to reach 100 million by 2030. Situated at the southern end of Guangzhou’s Nansha District on the western bank of the historic Pearl River, the Greater Bay Area Sports Center will serve as an anchor to the new civic, business, and residential district at the heart of the Greater Bay Area. Offering its local community sports facilities of the highest standards, the center has also been designed to host a diverse programme of major national and international sporting events, as well as cultural performances, that can be easily accessed by all residents of the Greater Bay Area via Line 18 of the Guangzhou Metro and the new Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge.
Light Gallery House is located within a one-minute walk from the previous project, House of Boundary, and shares the same spatial context. The young couple requested a home large enough to accommodate the grandmother and two young children. The project started from their determination to make a better environment for their children, after suffering from the repeated stress of inter-floor noise in their apartment.
In Kensal Rise, North West London, RISE Design Studio has transformed a mid-terrace house into a model of sustainable urban living. This project reimagines existing housing stock and sets a new standard for eco-friendly retrofits in metropolitan areas.
B.Red House is situated within an urban development governed by fixed planning regulations, where the latitude for architectural self-expression is narrowed by the imperative to maintain a unified overall appearance. The extended sameness across successive building masses has, perhaps inevitably, produced a sense of order bordering on monotony—an environment in which individual houses appear to share a common formal vocabulary. Within such a context, the pursuit of self-definition becomes challenging, as each building must sustain its own internal logic while still operating within the predetermined limits of an established urban typology.
Located in Macau, in the Haut-Médoc region, Château Cantemerle is one of the oldest wine estates in Bordeaux. The estate extends over twenty-eight hectares of wooded parkland.
Located in the prestigious diplomatic district of Rabat, the new Royal Thai Embassy sits on a strategic site in the country’s capital. Though the initial brief was to rehabilitate an existing dilapidated villa, we realized that with a similar investment in time and budget, it would be preferable to demolish the existing building and construct a new one that would be better adapted to its role as an embassy.
K’s Veranda, the latest chapter in the story of K’s Charcoal in Ahmedabad, embodies the spirit of Hiren Patel Architects + Design (HPAD) — crafting spaces that breathe, balance, and belong. What once was a lively, open lawn beside the restaurant has blossomed into a soulful retreat. Here, walls seem to melt into the landscape, and the indoors drift effortlessly into the open air. It doesn’t read as an addition, but as a graceful evolution, carrying the familiar warmth and comfort of its predecessor, yet whispering in its own quiet voice.
