When planning a commercial space, it is not easy to sacrifice usable space. This is especially true in areas with high unit prices, where most prefer to maximize the display space by ensuring more circulation space in narrow areas.

Threshold House makes room for extended hospitality. Studio McW has extended and redesigned the lower ground floor of Threshold House, a semi-detached, split-level Victorian home in the leafy De Beauvoir neighbourhood of London.

Located on West Tai Lake in Changzhou, Tian An Clubhouse originally served the surrounding villa community for over a decade. As residents’ lifestyles evolved, the building required renewal. HATCH Architects was commissioned to redesign the clubhouse with an architectural language that bridges Oriental philosophy and contemporary comfort—reviving a sense of harmony between nature and order.

Manor Mirage is located in the wilderness of Huai’an County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, adjacent to the Zhangbei Grassland. Its design core lies in the lightweight translation and functional regeneration of the abandoned concrete bridge on the site. With “mirage” as a metaphor, the project, on the basis of respecting the site memory and grassland culture, constructs a spatial form with both a sense of disappearance and transience through low-intervention strategies, realizing the dialectical coexistence of architecture and nature, tradition and modernity.

The housing is located on the top floor of a building from the 1970s. Like most penthouses in the city, it is a residual space despite being the most coveted apartment. By retracting the facade, the unit is positioned above the secondary spaces of the lower floors, with narrow frames and numerous obstacles such as downspouts or ventilation ducts. The goal is to camouflage these defects and through a process of subtraction, leave its structure exposed. Three main spaces are created beneath the original layout.

The San Carlos de Apoquindo Stadium (currently Claro Arena), inaugurated on September 4, 1988, is located in the Las Condes municipality of Santiago, Chile, on a sloping site towards the city, between the mountains and Manquehue Hill. The original design featured a partially buried configuration, with differentiated access points between the eastern side (Fouilloux) and the western side (Livingstone).
