The buildings that were renovated as the Presidential Museum and Library are just two of the many units that formed Sumerbank Textile Factory, in Kayseri, Turkey. Built between 1933-1935 and designed by Russian architect Ivan Nikolaev, this production facility has been one of the most significant symbols of industrialization and modernization in the Republican period of Turkey.
Context. Historical events shape identity, and this holds true for the building at Theaterplatz 4. Located directly across from the significant Weimar National Theatre, it plays a crucial role in the city’s narrative. This heritage-listed former carriage depot (1823) stands as a witness to a diverse history. Like the city itself, the building has undergone numerous architectural transformations. Its most recent incarnation as an art gallery, known as the “Bauhaus Museum,” strategically aligns with Theaterplatz, showcasing its grand facade. While the original symmetrical concept has been somewhat obscured by alterations to the side annexes, the art gallery’s expansive exhibition space emerges clearly from its original symmetry. However, while the building’s connection to the square is well-defined and architecturally significant, this precision is lost in the rear portion.
The National Pavilion of Biodiversity is a new space for UNAM, located in the cultural corridor of Ciudad Universitaria. The project aims to grow and preserve the archive of the Institute of Biology, as well as to create thematic laboratories for the scientific study of the largest collection of dead species in Latin America.

Inaugurated in 1968, this building, located on the eastern side of Santander Park, aims to establish itself as a humble capsule that intrigues visitors and takes them on a captivating journey through the world of Colombian artisanal skills.
Local architect Fernanda Ahumada and studio FR-EE have completed The National Biodiversity Pavilion in Mexico City with a facade of moving aluminium panels that responds to light and wind. Located at the National Autonomous University in Mexico City, the building will house the archives and growing mammal, reptile, fish and bird collections of the Institute

Urban Development And Exterior Design. The new museum ensemble with its building structure fits into the small-scale structure of Sonthofen’s inner city and thus continues to write the history of the place: The typical local design of gabled houses built directly next to each other is reinterpreted, creating a varied roofscape that structures the building and adapts it to its surroundings in terms of scale. New open spaces with different qualities have been created around the museum: At the Kirchplatz, a historic urban situation is restored. The Rapphaus has received a structural extension through the new building, which closes the square façade and divides the building into a main and a service section as in the past. Today, the main entrance to the museum is located there. To the east, the new museum courtyard is an inviting place to spend time. It is a meeting place and event area. In the south, the old farm garden will be preserved and will once again be an important part of the museum tour.
The 230,000-square-foot $465 million Gilder Center project was announced in 2014 and includes six floors above ground, four of which are open to the public, and one below. It creates 33 connections among 10 Museum buildings to link the entire campus and establishes a new entrance on the Museum’s west side, at Columbus Avenue and 79th Street, in Theodore Roosevelt Park. Visitors coming from Columbus Avenue experience the Gilder Center as a building set in a park, constructed at the same height as the older Museum buildings that flank it, with flowing, gentle curves. Adjacent areas of the park have been enhanced with a new landscape design, developed by Reed Hilderbrand with community input, which features more pathways and seating areas.
With 10,500 square meters of usable space across five levels, the new Istanbul Modern building comprises large exhibition galleries, multifunctional spaces, dedicated zones for education, offices, and spaces for commercial activity.
