City under City Museum / ARTS Group

April 13, 2023 Collin Chen 0

Xuzhou, formerly known as Pengcheng, was selected as the second batch of Chinese National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities in 1986. According to local chronicles, due to its unique geographical location, the Xuzhou city site has not been relocated and presents a superimposed state of the original site. In the overall planning for the protection of the historical context of Xuzhou City, the City under the City Museum is a special urban node after the City Wall Museum project. At the beginning of 2020, the design of the museum began before the excavation work of the site with the starting point of how to deal with the relationship between architecture, ruins, and the city, in order to represent the superimposed urban history.

At present, future education and future primary and secondary schools have become hot topics in the field of education and architecture. A number of phased achievements have been produced. The new teaching results make new requirements for the teaching space. Taking the typical STEAM education as an example, the new teaching features are mainly interdisciplinary, collaborative, interesting, experiential, and situational. These characteristics require the teaching space to be open, flexible, diverse, and situational, so as to meet the needs of teaching. The Heyuan Museum of Popular Science Education for K-12s is an experimental case of the team in this field.

The Museum of Art and Photography Bangalore / Mathew and Ghosh Architects

In a global unfolding post-colonial narrative, the ideas for a Museum in contemporary India hinged on excursions of mnemonic recall and equitability.  The Museum of Art and Photography, Bangalore India, MAP plays on the tensions between the idea of collecting -collating, containing, and storing – which is the fodder for curatorship, and engagement with communities that embed the work as part of lived experience in the city of Bangalore, from the mundane to theatrical, and exotic to equal. The Museum design internally predicates art and its showcase over spatial dramatics to present generic gallery spaces, that insulate precious art and artifacts from ultraviolet light.

March 10, 2023 Hana Abdel 0

Rocky Hill Memorial Museum is a unique project due to the location and history of the site and we are honored to be involved. Our concept approach was to complement the existing memorial tower and position the new museum in a location to enhance the public experience. Responding to the brief from Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Crone designed a contemporary new structure to complement the existing museum that once served as the caretaker’s cottage. The interior of the new wing includes 230sqm of flexible and adaptable space to exhibit permanent and traveling collections of war memorabilia plus an area for educational programs.

Red Education Base of Jiang Jie Hometown / SADI

February 27, 2023 Collin Chen 0

Few people knew that Jiangjie was from Zigong before the construction of this project. “Hometown of Jangjie” is also used as a theme of the urban position of Zigong during the building of this project, which shows the significance of this project to the city. Due to the yong age when Jiangjie died, only a few personal belongings were left behind. Jiangjie is more well-known and remembered for her artistic image – red rock, red plum, and red star which have almost become spiritual symbols deeply associated with her, and precisely the source of inspiration and logical starting point of the design.
