Background. In recent decades, the coastal city of Bahía de Caráquez has been characterized by the growth and development of the industries of tourism and leisure. Unfortunately, the strong earthquake that occurred in 2016 compromised several buildings, especially the tallest ones in the area. Many of them had to be demolished, leaving empty lots and the question of how the city should be reconfigured in this seismic zone with poor soil quality.

Inteli Educacional Complex / Pitá Arquitetura

The project comprises a 968,75 sqft complex, with 3 buildings and a large outdoor area that connects everything. The main entrance leads the users through a marquee to building 06, the cafeteria, where there is a large covered eating area with overhead lighting, wooden decks, a wellness room, and pedagogical support for students and families. Permeating this building is a large garden of Atlantic forest with a reflecting pool that connects the cafeteria to the educational building, where there is a central square, cafes, library, laboratories, classrooms, spaces for self-study, student support, auditorium, meeting rooms, and coordinators.

Architecture studio Community Design Agency has worked with local Sanjaynagar residents to create vibrant housing blocks for people living in slum conditions in the city of Ahmednagar, India. Community Design Agency (CDA) created eight three-storey brick buildings that will eventually house 298 families in the Sanjaynagar slum in Ahmednagar, 150 miles from Mumbai. Thirty-three families

Borgafjellet Elementary School / LINK arkitektur

A model for a healthy indoor climate. The newly opened elementary school ‘Borgafjellet’ on the western coast of Norway, near Bergen, is unique in its combination of hybrid ventilation and solid wood on all surfaces. The overall goal for the project was to create the best possible healthy indoor environment for the 420 pupils and their teachers. The project group set high ambitions for sustainability, climate footprint, durable materials, and indoor climate, cultivating an innovative building with solid sustainable qualities for many generations.
