Fasanen 36 Apartment Block / CAMA A

June 27, 2024 Hadir Al Koshta 0

Newly built apartment block with underground car park. Compaction of a not quite-typical Berlin block. Given the increasing housing shortage and rising rents, the question of how more living space can be developed in Berlin is pressing. Our new six-storey building, constructed on around 240 square metres of a garden plot in Charlottenburg’s Fasanenstrasse, has created around 1,100 square metres of new living space in the heart of the city.

June 26, 2024 Valeria Silva 0

MJARC Arquitetos was invited to rehabilitate a building that has punctuated the landscape of Santa Comba Dão for more than 20 years. The rehabilitation of this building aims to preserve the existing building rather than simply demolishing it and starting over. The design team and developers decided to achieve an ambitious goal: to reuse the existing building as much as possible and establish a new, high quality standard in the adaptive reuse of the building.

A 19-unit housing complex of 25m2 apartments built along the main road in Setagaya, Tokyo. In recent years, there has been a trend in many fields to revisit the idea of possession, replacing it with the rent of a good. Therefore, the subscription plans started spreading in digital and real environments. This new perception of possession radically altered our approach and attachment to the same goods we subscribe for, somehow giving a sense of a shared property with future customers.

Paço d’Arcos Apartment / Site Specific Arquitectura

June 21, 2024 Andreas Luco 0

Paço de Arcos is a coastal parish of Oeiras, at the river mouth of the Tagus, which observes the river’s connection to the ocean. In the 19th century, it was an excellent beach in the Lisbon region, where the capital’s aristocracy bathed, and with the evolution of the great metropolis, it became more suburbanized. In the 1970s, this seaside atmosphere was still alive, leaving behind various constructions with typological references to this summer life that can be found along the coastline to Cascais. The 1970s and 1980s imposed a forced modernity on the historic center of Paço de Arcos, highlighted by a large housing unit with a modernist design facing south, overlooking the ocean above the old rooftops. These were exclusively T1 typologies, with approximately 46m2, featuring small compartments, a kitchenette, and large balconies overlooking the sea.

House K / Kii inc.

We designed a residence that doubles as a workspace in a 50-year-old apartment building on high ground in the heart of the city. The building stands on a hillside in the shape of a mortar facing a nearby river. Because of the change in zoning across the road, there are no tall buildings in front of the apartment, and the balcony offers a wide view of the city stretching out to the horizon, merging with the sky.
